How to spell BUSINESS

8 letters · one silly story · spelled right by the end

Writing "business" five times in a row doesn't stick — by Thursday it's gone. What sticks is a picture. Give each letter of BUSINESS a character, chain them into one silly story, and your child rebuilds the word from the story every time:

B Bear 🐻 — Our BUSINESS story begins with a giggling Bear.

Ask your child: What does our story begin with?

U Unicorn 🦄 — Bear grabs an Unicorn!

Ask your child: What does Bear grab?

S Ship 🚢 — Unicorn rides a Ship to the castle.

Ask your child: What does Unicorn ride?

I Ice cream 🍦 — Ship grabs an Ice cream!

Ask your child: What does Ship grab?

N Nut 🥜 — Ice cream bakes a Nut for dessert!

Ask your child: What does Ice cream bake?

E Elf 🧝 — Nut jumps over an Elf!

Ask your child: What does Nut jump over?

S Squirrel 🐿️ — Elf grabs a Squirrel!

Ask your child: What does Elf grab?

S Star ⭐ — They all shout: Hooray for Star!

Ask your child: What do they shout hooray for?

Why this works: each letter becomes a concrete image (dual coding), and retelling the story is retrieval practice — the two most reliable memory effects in learning research. It also turns spelling practice from a fight into a giggle.

Every story is different — regenerate until your child laughs, swap any letter's character, or let the AI write one. Works for any word, including Singapore MOE Primary 1 and Primary 2 spelling words.
