How to spell LEISURE

7 letters · one silly story · spelled right by the end

Writing "leisure" five times in a row doesn't stick — by Thursday it's gone. What sticks is a picture. Give each letter of LEISURE a character, chain them into one silly story, and your child rebuilds the word from the story every time:

L Lollipop 🍭 — Let's spell LEISURE! It all starts with a wobbly Lollipop.

Ask your child: What do we start with?

E Eagle 🦅 — Lollipop discovers Eagle hiding in a cave.

Ask your child: What is hiding in the cave?

I Ink 🖊️ — Eagle grabs an Ink!

Ask your child: What does Eagle grab?

S Sun ☀️ — Ink climbs up and sees Sun.

Ask your child: What does Ink see?

U Ukulele 🪕 — Sun jumps over an Ukulele!

Ask your child: What does Sun jump over?

R Ring 💍 — Ukulele discovers Ring hiding in a cave.

Ask your child: What is hiding in the cave?

E Elf 🧝 — And Elf saves the day!

Ask your child: Who saves the day?

Why this works: each letter becomes a concrete image (dual coding), and retelling the story is retrieval practice — the two most reliable memory effects in learning research. It also turns spelling practice from a fight into a giggle.

Every story is different — regenerate until your child laughs, swap any letter's character, or let the AI write one. Works for any word, including Singapore MOE Primary 1 and Primary 2 spelling words.
